For the past couple of years now, there has been constant debate on whether those who feel they do not fit in the categories of male or female, should be welcome in the workplace. Times are changing and with the growing encouragement of "all should be accepted", many work places welcome all identities with open arms. However, that does not eliminate the fact that there is still circumstances of tension amongst employees, despite the idea that all identities are legally welcome.
Everyday, employees come into work, with various different heritage and backgrounds. All employees have their own perspectives of religious or non religious beliefs. Along with belief comes conflict and gender tension.
In the environement of a workplace, certain gender types may offend employees and customers, which may cause conflict of verbal harassment to that particular individual.

This image demonstrates a particular issue some have when needing to use the restroom. There are employees who may be uncomfortable with the idea of an additional washroom. There are also such workplaces that may not have the third washroom, in which case, causes tension.
As gender identity is tied to gender roles, the different mannerisms that come with that will influence how a particular individual communicates amongst their peers. Tension amongst different genders ultimately stems from the behaviours that are tied to gender roles and thus, gender identity.
